It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of Utta.

Utta was inseparable from our friend Werner Waldenberger, an honorary member of our association, whom she accompanied on his visits to Vinon.

Utta was a respected figure in the European gliding community. Her skills, enthusiasm and dedication to our sport were undeniable. A talented pilot, Utta was also an outstanding mechanic. She was capable of repairing damaged gliders in the middle of the night so that their owners could continue to compete. For many years, Utta was the ‘Prüffer’ for our machines when they were registered in Germany. She will also be remembered for helping out on the track.

Beyond these qualities, she was also a friend to many. Her stories of aerial adventures and her wisdom were a source of inspiration. Her presence at Vinon was also a constant reminder of the friendship between our countries.

Utta, you may have left the earthly realm, but your spirit will forever soar high in the skies you loved so much.
